Why High Desert

Why Arizona plants call High Desert

Our team works in Arizona boiler rooms from hospital mechanical rooms to mine sites and power plants, and combustion and controls work is our core. With welding, fabrication and source testing in-house, we can take a job from diagnosis through repair and testing.

National Board R stamp for boiler and vessel repairs

We hold the National Board R stamp for repairs and alterations to boilers and pressure vessels, so code repairs, retubing and weld work are documented properly for your inspector.

Welding, fabrication and source testing in-house

Our mobile welders work on site, our fabricators build piping and custom mechanical structures, and we perform source testing, so fewer jobs wait on outside contractors.

Backed by the Thermogenics network

Thermogenics gives our team access to more parts, rental boilers and the engineering depth of a boiler manufacturer.

Industries

Arizona industries our team serves

Outside the high country, Arizona’s boilers do little space heating. The load is process steam, sterilization, domestic hot water and laundry, and it runs all year. We work at mine and mill sites, hospitals, food and beverage plants, power and energy facilities, manufacturing plants and pharmaceutical operations.

Boiler maintenance

Arizona boiler maintenance and inspection support

Our maintenance agreements run monthly, quarterly or annually, built around how hard your equipment works and when your inspections fall. A typical visit covers combustion analysis and burner tuning, low-water cutoff and safety control testing, flame safeguard checks on Fireye and Honeywell 7800 systems, and a look at feedwater, condensate return and chemical feed. We service Cleaver-Brooks, Fulton, Superior, Victory and Williams & Davis boilers, along with all other makes and models.

We check the whole boiler room, not just the boiler. That includes deaerators, feed pumps, steam traps, controls, process piping and cooling towers. Much of Arizona’s water is hard, and scale builds quickly on tubes and probes when treatment slips, so we look for it on every visit. In the high country around Flagstaff, we tune and test heating boilers before the cold arrives.

Combustion tuning, source testing and steam traps

We tune Oilon, Weishaupt, Cleaver-Brooks and Siemens Combustion burners, set up Autoflame controls and O2 trim, and work on process burners as well as boiler burners. When your air permit calls for emissions data, we perform the source testing ourselves. A tuned burner uses less gas and trips less often.

The U.S. Department of Energy reported in 2012 that 15% to 30% of steam traps can fail in systems left alone for 3–5 years, and that regular surveys and maintenance can bring that below 5%. Our steam trap surveys find the failed traps, tag them and set out a replacement plan.

Boiler repair

Arizona boiler repair, around the clock

24/7 emergency boiler repairCall 480-292-6550 to reach our Apache Junction service team.

When a boiler trips or a tube fails, the first job is getting you back on steam safely. We troubleshoot burners and controls, replace failed flame safeguards and sensors, repair pumps and piping, and make temporary repairs when a permanent fix needs parts. Then we work out why it failed, whether from poor combustion, scale, short-cycling, a bad trap upstream or a control problem.

Trouble often starts elsewhere in the system, so our technicians check feedwater, condensate return, gas supply and controls before they condemn a part. We work on firetube, watertube, electric and hot water boilers, thermal fluid systems and the process burners that feed them.

R-stamp repairs, retubing and refractory

Pressure-part repairs need documentation along with the welds. Our R stamp lets us retube firetube boilers, replace fittings, repair pressure vessels and document the work for your authorized inspector. We also reline refractory and castable insulation and repair doors and seals.

On the controls side, we repair and upgrade Honeywell 7800, Fireye and Siemens Combustion burner management systems and add Autoflame combustion controls with O2 trim. Older boilers can be retrofitted with current flame safeguards and safety interlocks while keeping the existing pressure vessel, which often costs less than buying a new boiler.

Boiler parts

Boiler parts and supplies for Arizona plants

Our service trucks leave stocked, and we also keep a parts inventory at the branch.

Lead times on Grundfos equipment have run 8–10 weeks for a repair kit and 10–12 weeks for a new pump. We help you identify the spares that would stop your plant and order them before you need them. Parts we do not carry, we source through the Thermogenics network and its suppliers.

  • Burner management and combustion control parts
  • Gas regulators and gas train parts
  • Steam pressure regulators
  • Pumps and pump repair kits
  • Solenoid and safety shutoff valves
  • Steam traps and steam specialties
  • Low-water cutoffs and level controls

Bridging to a new boiler

New boilers can take about four months to arrive when factories are busy. A rental carries the load until the new unit is installed.

Boiler rentals

Arizona rental boilers for emergencies and outages

A rental boiler carries the load while a repair that will take weeks gets done. Thermogenics rental boilers are Thermocoil units from 150 to 500 HP, built to a 250 psig MAWP and operating from 70 to 225 psig on natural gas, propane or No. 2 oil. They ship in standard shipping containers on regular trucks, with no oversize escorts. For other sizes and types, Thermogenics draws on partner rental inventory from 30 to 2,200+ BHP, including watertube, hot water, thermal fluid and low-NOx units.

Thermogenics rentals come with installation, maintenance and 24/7 repairs while the unit is on rent. Decide early where the container will sit and how far it is from your plant steam line, because a 400 ft run can mean 2–3 weeks of piping. Each container needs a crane or a lowboy trailer to set it. Have your pressure, fuel, voltage, water details and air permit NOx limits ready when you call.

Frequently asked questions

Questions from Arizona customers

Our boiler tripped overnight. Can we reach someone right now?

Yes. Call 480-292-6550; emergency service runs 24/7 across Arizona. Tell us what the boiler is doing, the make and model, and what it serves. The office is open 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM MST, Monday to Friday, for planned work, maintenance agreements and parts quotes.

Which boiler brands and types do you work on?

All makes and models, including Cleaver-Brooks, Fulton, Superior, Victory, Williams & Davis, Bryan, Raypak, Lochinvar and Unilux. That covers firetube, watertube, electric and hot water boilers and thermal fluid systems. On burners and controls we service Oilon, Weishaupt, Cleaver-Brooks, Siemens Combustion, Autoflame, Honeywell 7800, Fireye and Maxitrol.

Can you get us a rental boiler while ours is being repaired?

Yes. We can supply a Thermogenics containerized rental boiler from 150 to 500 HP, or a partner unit from 30 to 2,200+ BHP, and install it to carry your load while the repair is done.

Can you make code repairs to our boiler’s pressure parts?

Yes. Under our National Board R stamp we handle retubing, weld repairs and pressure vessel work. We document each repair and coordinate with your authorized inspector.

Will you come out to Tucson or Flagstaff?

Yes. Our Apache Junction team serves both, along with the rest of Arizona, and our service trucks travel stocked with parts.

Is this the same team as High Desert Mechanical?

Yes. High Desert Mechanical joined Thermogenics in 2024 and still operates under its own name from Apache Junction. General Manager Scott Hough leads the branch. What changed is the support behind the team: parts, rental boilers and engineering from a network of over 10 Thermogenics locations.

Our inspection is coming up. What does Arizona require?

The Industrial Commission of Arizona enforces the Arizona Boiler Rules through the ADOSH Boiler Safety Section. Since July 2017, certificate inspections have been done by authorized third-party inspection agencies, and power boilers need an annual internal inspection. We open and clean the boiler, test safety controls and low-water cutoffs, and make any repairs the inspector calls for.

Can you work on boilers and burners at remote mine sites?

Yes. We service process burners, boilers, pumps and piping at mine and mill sites, including the copper country around Globe. Our mobile welders make repairs on location.
