Yown's Boiler Service
Sooted tube sheet
A firetube tube sheet before cleaning, with soot built up across the tube ends and piled at the bottom. Soot insulates the tubes and sends heat up the stack.
Yown's Boiler Service
Tube sheet after cleaning
The same tube sheet cleaned, with the tube ends open. Clean fireside surfaces let the boiler transfer heat the way it was designed to.
Yown's Boiler Service
Fan guard before service
A burner fan guard coated in thick black grime. A restricted air inlet upsets the air–fuel ratio and can lead to poor combustion and flame failures.
Yown's Boiler Service
Fan guard cleaned to bare metal
After cleaning, the guard is back to bare metal and the burner gets its full combustion air.

Boiler maintenance
Boiler maintenance across North Florida & South Georgia
We run maintenance on monthly, quarterly and annual plans. A monthly plan covers 11 inspections plus the annual inspection; a quarterly plan covers 3 inspections plus an annual visit. On each visit our technician works through burner and combustion checks, flame safeguard and low-water cutoff tests, gauge glasses and controls, feedwater pumps, and your water treatment and blowdown logs. We also get the boiler ready for its annual insurance inspection.
Florida boilers rarely heat buildings. They make hot water, run laundries, feed sterilizers and supply process steam, often all year at light load. A boiler that short-cycles on a small load wastes fuel and wears out burner parts and refractory sooner, so combustion tuning matters here. We set up O2 trim and linkageless controls on Autoflame and Siemens systems where the load justifies it.
Beyond the boiler: traps, deaerators and pumps
Our steam trap surveys find traps that are blowing through or stuck closed. In systems left alone for 3–5 years, 15–30% of traps can fail, and regular surveys can bring that under 5%. We also inspect deaerators, evaluate water softeners, service feedwater pumps and train your operators on daily checks and safe blowdown.
We also clean boilers and burners. Soot on the tube sheet insulates the tubes and pushes stack temperature up, while dust and lint in the burner fan and control panel starve the flame of air and cause nuisance trips. The photos here show our own before-and-after cleaning work.
24/7 boiler repair in North Florida & South Georgia
Boiler down? Call us 24/7Call 904-786-1645 for emergency repair, nights and weekends included.
A boiler outage stops production, and in a hospital it can stop instrument sterilization too. After hours, a technician from our Jacksonville shop heads out. First we get you back on steam safely, then we find out why it failed. That might mean replacing a failed flame scanner or ignition module, clearing a low-water trip, swapping a seized feedwater pump for a rebuilt one, or making a sound temporary repair so the plant can run.
A repeated low-water trip can point back to the condensate return or the deaerator. Flame failures can trace to gas pressure, a fouled burner or a failing control. We write up what we found and what we recommend, so the next repair can be planned.
Code welding, retubing and refractory
Our code welding shop handles pressure-part work in-house. With the National Board R stamp we perform repairs and alterations to boilers and pressure vessels, and our ASME S and U stamps cover fabrication of power boiler and pressure vessel parts. That work includes retubing firetube boilers, tube and tube-sheet repairs, and fabricated skids and piping. We also repair refractory: doors, rear walls and burner throats.
We repair Hurst, Cleaver-Brooks, Fulton, Aerco and Thermogenics boilers, along with the burner and control lines we represent. When a repair is no longer worth making, we size and install a replacement boiler, including emergency replacements, and can set up a rental boiler to cover the gap.
A technician in full PPE works on a brass valve assembly. We repair or replace gas train components, feedwater valves and steam valves on site.
Strainers and feedwater lines
Working on a valve and strainer assembly. Plugged strainers and leaking valves on feed lines are common causes of low-water trips and pump damage.
Skid fabrication
A welder fabricates a steel skid in the shop. We build skids, supports and piping assemblies so equipment arrives ready to set and connect.
Code welding on the bench
Our ASME code welders handle pressure-part repairs under the National Board R stamp, along with brackets, fittings and smaller fabricated parts.

Boiler parts
Boiler parts in stock in Jacksonville
We keep a working inventory at the shop: coils, gaskets, valves, process burners, burner controls and gas trains. We service hundreds of boiler brands and models, so parts we don’t have on the shelf, we source through Halmar Boiler Parts, the Thermogenics parts company.
Feed pumps need their own plan. Grundfos lead times run 8–10 weeks for a repair kit and 10–12 weeks for a new pump, which is too long for a plant with one feed pump. Our in-house Pump Rebuild Program covers that gap, and we help customers build a spare parts inventory around their critical items.
Feedwater and condensate pumps (sourced)
Gaskets, including Topog-E
McDonnell & Miller and Warrick controls
Fireye and Honeywell flame safeguards
Gas trains and ASCO valves
Process burners and burner parts
Kunkle safety valves, Spence regulators
Armstrong and Watson McDaniel steam traps
Ignition modules and coils
Apollo, Conbraco and Watts valves

Boiler rentals
Rental boilers for North Florida & South Georgia
When a boiler fails beyond a quick repair, or a new boiler is months out, a rental keeps the plant on steam. Through Thermogenics we supply containerized Thermocoil coil-tube steam units from 150 to 500 HP, built to 250 psig MAWP and operating from 70 to 225 psig, firing natural gas, propane or No. 2 oil. For other sizes and types, partner rental providers extend the range from 30 BHP to 2,200+ BHP, including firetube, watertube, hot water and thermal fluid units.
Our team handles the work on site. We walk the site with you, choose where the unit will sit, run the piping tie-in, start it up and service it for as long as it is on rent. Plan the steam connection early, because the distance from the rental to your plant steam line drives the schedule; a 400-foot run can mean 2–3 weeks of piping. Each unit ships in a standard shipping container and travels without oversize escorts, but you will need a crane or a lowboy trailer to set it.

Questions from North Florida & South Georgia customers
Can we reach a Jacksonville technician on a weekend or holiday?
Yes. Call 904-786-1645 for emergency service nights, weekends and holidays. Emergency service runs 24/7; the office is open 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET, Monday to Friday.
Which boiler brands and burners do you work on?
We service Hurst, Cleaver-Brooks, Fulton, Aerco, Lochinvar, Thermal Solutions, Unilux, Bryan, Weil-McLain and Thermogenics boilers, from commercial hot-water units to industrial process steam boilers. On the burner and controls side we work on Autoflame, Limpsfield, Industrial Combustion, Power Flame, Honeywell, Maxon and Siemens equipment.
Can you supply a rental boiler if ours fails or needs replacing?
Yes. Our team arranges emergency and planned rentals: Thermogenics containerized steam units, plus partner inventory for other sizes and types. We walk the site, plan the steam tie-in and crane access, start the unit up and service it while it is on rent.
What stamps and licenses does your shop hold?
Our shop holds the ASME S and U stamps and the National Board R stamp for repairs and alterations to boilers and pressure vessels. We hold Florida State license CAC029389 as a State certified mechanical contractor. Our technicians carry OSHA, confined space, lock-out tag-out, fall arrest, hot work and arc flash training, and we are set up in Avetta, Veriforce and ISNetworld.
How far outside Jacksonville will your team travel?
Up to around 250 miles from the branch, across North Florida and South Georgia. That includes St. Augustine, Gainesville, Tallahassee, Savannah and Brunswick, along with towns such as Orange Park, Fernandina Beach, Yulee, Green Cove Springs, Macclenny, Lake City, Palatka and Kingsland.
Is this the same team as Yown’s Boiler Service?
Yes. Yown’s Boiler Service joined Thermogenics in 2020 and still works under the Yown’s name from our shop on West 20th Street in Jacksonville. Matt Walther is our General Manager. Thermogenics adds rental boilers, manufactured equipment and parts support.
Which agency inspects our boiler in Florida?
The Florida Division of State Fire Marshal – Boiler Safety Program. It administers Florida’s Boiler Safety Act, Chapter 554 of the Florida Statutes, under rules in Chapter 69A-51, F.A.C., covering construction, installation, inspection and repair, with a focus on boilers in public assembly locations. We prepare boilers for inspection and make code repairs under our National Board R stamp.
Our hospital’s steam load drops sharply in summer. Is that a problem?
It can be. In our hospital steam paper with Thermogenics, winter loads ran 60–95% of steam capacity and summer loads about 5–15%. A large boiler on a small load cycles constantly, and the DOE estimates excessive cycling costs 1–3% of fuel each year. A high-turndown summer boiler, such as 150 bhp at 10:1 for a 100 bhp load, plus O2 trim, is what the paper recommends.
