Florida’s Boiler Safety Act, Chapter 554 of the Florida Statutes, was enacted in 1987 and is administered by the Boiler Safety Program, Division of State Fire Marshal, under Chapter 69A-51, F.A.C. It covers construction, installation, inspection and repair of boilers, with a focus on places of public assembly, which matters for Tampa’s hotels, venues and attractions.
Mild winters mean Tampa boilers rarely see a true heating season. Many run at low fire for long stretches or sit as standby units, and humid, salt-laden air near the bay is hard on idle equipment, controls and stacks. Short cycling, condensation and corrosion are common here, so we look at sizing, controls, water treatment and condensate return as well as the boiler itself.
