Industries in Lakeland

Lakeland industries that run on steam and hot water

Lakeland is at the center of Polk County’s working economy, with grocery distribution and food production, phosphate and fertilizer, citrus juice, hospitals and college campuses. Most of these boilers run year-round for process steam and hot water, with little load from space heating.

Grocery & food plants

Food plants need steady steam for cooking, sanitation and washdown, and hot water through every shift. We keep burners tuned and controls tested.

Phosphate & fertilizer

Fertilizer and chemical processing in Bone Valley depends on process steam. For chemical and process plants, we handle R-stamp repairs, re-tubing and pump rebuilds.

Citrus processing

Juice plants use steam for evaporation and pasteurization, with heavy demand in season. Pre-season inspections and trap surveys get a plant ready for peak runs; rentals add capacity.

Hospitals

Hospitals depend on boilers for sterilization, laundry, kitchens and domestic hot water. We test low-water cutoffs and flame safeguards on a set schedule.

Manometers and heating pipelines

Universities & colleges

Lakeland’s campuses run central plants for dorms, dining, labs and athletics. A maintenance plan puts central plant work on a set schedule that is easier to budget.

Local considerations

Florida boiler rules and Polk County conditions

Boilers in Lakeland fall under Florida’s Boiler Safety Act, Chapter 554 of the Florida Statutes. The Boiler Safety Section of the Division of State Fire Marshal administers it under rules in Chapter 69A-51, F.A.C. We are a Florida State Certified Mechanical Contractor, CM-C1249246, and make repairs under our National Board R-stamp.

Lakeland’s humid subtropical climate means little space heating and steady year-round demand for process steam and hot water. Humid air is hard on idle standby units and on burner linkages and controls, and an occasional winter frost can catch exposed condensate and feedwater lines. Many boiler problems start elsewhere in the system, so we also check traps, condensate return and water treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Boiler service questions from Lakeland

How quickly can you get a technician to Lakeland?

When you call our emergency line at 407-293-9317, you reach a technician directly. We confirm an arrival time on the call. Lakeland is about an hour from our Orlando branch. The truck arrives stocked with common parts.

Is Winter Haven, Bartow or Plant City in your service area?

Yes. Our Orlando team covers communities across Polk County, including Winter Haven, Bartow, Auburndale, Mulberry, Haines City and Lake Wales, along with Plant City to the west. The same technicians, parts and maintenance plans apply throughout the area.

Which agency inspects our boilers?

The Boiler Safety Section of the Division of State Fire Marshal inspects boilers under Florida’s Boiler Safety Act. On our maintenance plans, we perform the annual inspection with a government or insurance inspector present and make any repairs the inspector calls for.

Can you get a citrus plant’s boilers ready before processing season?

Yes. Before the season we can re-tube, check refractory, test low-water cutoffs and flame safeguards, tune burners and survey steam traps, as we do for food and beverage plants. If capacity is short, a rental boiler can carry part of the load. We schedule around your production calendar.

What size rental boiler can you supply?

Standalone units run 150 to 500 HP, and larger units are available on request. They come from the Thermogenics fleet, which delivers anywhere in the Southeast, with a 250 psig MAWP standard design and a 70–225 psig operating range, firing natural gas, propane or No. 2 oil. Our team handles setup and support.
