Boiler Service, Repair & Rentals in Grande Prairie & the Peace Region
Prime Boiler Services has worked on Western Canada’s steam and heating boilers since 1991 and is now part of Thermogenics. Our branch in the County of Grande Prairie No. 1 provides service, repairs, parts and rentals to plants across the Peace Region on both sides of the Alberta–BC line.
Boiler work in the Peace Region crosses a provincial border and runs through long, cold winters. Finishing a job on the first trip takes repair authorizations in both provinces and parts close to hand. Our Grande Prairie crew holds authorizations on both sides of the line and is backed by Prime’s parts inventory and rental fleet.

Industries
Industries we serve in the Peace Region
Natural gas from the Montney and wood from the boreal forest drive much of the Peace Region’s industry. Our Grande Prairie team works on the boilers, glycol heaters and steam systems at those plants. We also look after the heating plants of hospitals, schools and commercial buildings through long northern winters.

Boiler maintenance
Boiler maintenance in the Peace Region
A heating season that starts early and ends late gives a Peace Region boiler little time off. Our maintenance programs fit into the windows you have: annual inspections, combustion analysis and burner tuning, low-water cutoff and flame safeguard testing, and checks on feedwater, condensate and blowdown. A lot of the time the issue isn’t the boiler, it’s the system. A failing trap or pump can take a good boiler down with it, so we check those as well.
Every boiler and pressure vessel in Alberta has to stay on a valid certificate and follow the inspection intervals set by ABSA – The Pressure Equipment Safety Authority. We prepare boilers for ABSA inspection, handle certification and recertification paperwork, and work with the inspector on any repairs that need acceptance. For sites across the line in BC, we work under our Technical Safety BC licences.
Combustion upgrades and water treatment
Older boilers often run on original burners and relay controls that waste fuel and trip without warning. We modernize combustion systems with low-NOx burners, O2 trim, digital combustion controls and remote monitoring. We work with Autoflame, Fireye, Honeywell, Siemens and Lamtec controls and Oilon and Limpsfield burners.
Prime runs water treatment programs for steam boilers, closed-loop hot water, glycol systems and cooling towers, so scale and corrosion are dealt with before they reach the tubes. We test on site, adjust dosing and report what we find to your maintenance team.
Boiler down? Call us nowThe Grande Prairie team answers 24/7 at 780-933-8550.
A boiler outage in a Peace Region winter can stop production and take heat out of the building at the same time. Our technicians travel with mobile repair equipment and work on firetube and watertube steam boilers, hot water boilers and glycol heaters. We get the boiler running again safely, then find the cause of the failure.
Repairs cover burners and combustion controls, refractory on boilers from 25 HP to 5,000 HP, pressure parts, deaerators, feedwater tanks and blowdown separators, and the piping that ties them together. Repairs and alterations run under Prime’s ABSA Certificate of Authorization Permit AQP-21130. It covers Section I power boilers, Section IV heating boilers, pressure vessels and B31.1, B31.3 and B31.9 piping.
Shop fabrication and tank work
When a repair needs more than field work, Prime’s shop handles custom fabrication, pipe fabrication, refractory repair and recertification paperwork. Prime is also a Transport Canada-registered facility (Certificate of Registration 25-1156) for TC-44 highway and portable tank modification, repair, test and inspection to CSA B620-20. That covers tank trucks working Peace Region oilfields.
Pipe and pressure-part repairs welded under Prime’s ABSA-approved quality control system, with the documentation to match.

Boiler rentals
Rental boilers for the Peace Region
Prime runs the largest boiler rental fleet in Western Canada. It has 30+ skid- and trailer-mounted units, from a 30 BHP Scotch marine firetube to a 2,200 HP Nebraska watertube, low and high pressure, on diesel, natural gas or dual fuel. The fleet also includes water-tube steam trailers from 30,000 to 110,000 lb/hr up to 750 psig, superheated steam trailers, low-NOx options and glycol and thermal fluid heaters.
Peace Region rentals are often winter work. Prime boilers support plant turnarounds, pipeline hydrotesting down to -40 °C, rail car and bulker trailer heating, vessel steaming and tank cleaning. They also carry the load while a failed boiler is repaired or replaced. Ancillary rentals include hoses, water pumps, auxiliary fuel tanks and generators. Plan the steam connection early: where the boiler will sit and how far it is from your header decide how much temporary piping is needed.

Replacing 1960s superheated steam boilers at Wildcat Hills
Two 110,000 lb/hr Groupe Simoneau superheated steam boilers with Oilon burners for Canlin Energy, with automation, commissioning and after-sales support.
Hydrotesting a 1953 boiler without a plant shutdown
A gauge glass replacement on a 1953 boiler needed a 300 psi hydrotest. Prime coordinated with ABSA and tested it without shutting down the plant’s second boiler.
Our boiler tripped overnight. Who do we call in Grande Prairie?
Call our Grande Prairie team at 780-933-8550, day or night. Our technicians come out with mobile repair equipment and get your boiler running safely first. If the repair will take time, we can line up a rental boiler and order parts right away.
What boilers do your technicians work on?
We work on steam and heating boilers over 400,000 BTU: firetube, watertube and low-water-content steam boilers, hot water and glycol heaters, and the pressure vessels around them. Brands include Hurst, Saskatoon Boiler, CAMUS, Limpsfield and Oilon. We also do burner and control work on Autoflame, Fireye, Honeywell, Lamtec and Siemens.
Do you do oilfield recertifications?
Yes. Our Grande Prairie shop handles recertifications for oilfield customers and provides the paperwork that verifies the work, so you can manage and maintain your equipment on record. Certification and recertification can be done with or without safety-authority inspections. Call 780-933-8550 with the equipment details.
Can we rent a steam boiler to cover a turnaround or a winter outage?
Yes. Prime rents steam boilers for turnarounds, emergency heat and pipeline hydrotests, with skid-, trailer- and truck-mounted units on diesel, natural gas or dual fuel. Tell us your pressure, fuel, voltage and where the unit will sit relative to your steam line, and we will size it.
Are your repairs authorized on the BC side too?
Yes. In BC we hold a Technical Safety BC Boiler Class A licence, LBP0046618, and a Class A gas contractor licence, LGA0100607. These sit alongside our ABSA authorization in Alberta and our TSASK registration in Saskatchewan.
Do you go to Dawson Creek and Fort St. John?
Yes. Our Grande Prairie team covers the BC side of the Peace Region, including Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, and works there under our Technical Safety BC licences.
Is this the same team as Prime Boiler Services?
Yes. The Grande Prairie branch is Prime Boiler Services, with the same team and the same phone number. Prime joined Thermogenics in 2026. Our name and local service stay as they were, and we now also draw on Thermogenics, which has served boiler plants since 1975.
Do you work on glycol heaters and boilers at gas plants?
Yes. We service glycol heating boilers, steam boilers and pressure vessels at gas plants, including Montney facilities. We repair burners and modulating motors after flame failures and support turnarounds with rental steam. Our safety programs include ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, Avetta, Contractor Check and Cognibox.
What should we do before the heating season starts?
Inspect and tune the burners, test low-water cutoffs, flame safeguards and safety valves, check refractory, and review water treatment so scale and corrosion do not build up over a long firing season. We also look at freeze risk in condensate and feedwater lines and at backup plans, including a rental boiler on standby if your plant cannot go without steam or heat.
