Industries in Cornwall

Cornwall industries that run on boilers

Cornwall’s boiler rooms serve hospitals, long-term care homes, colleges and schools, and the manufacturing plants in the city’s business parks.

Outpatient Surgery Center

Health care

Hospitals need uninterrupted steam for sterilization, humidification, kitchens and heat. We keep lead and standby boilers inspected and ready to carry the load.

Manometers and heating pipelines

Colleges & schools

College campuses and schools rely on hot water and low-pressure steam for heat. We schedule overhauls in the off-season and tune controls before heating demand returns.

Manufacturing

Plants in Cornwall’s business parks use process steam and hot water for production, cleaning and space heat. We track down the cause of trips and leaks, from burner tuning to condensate return.

Long-term care

Long-term care homes need steady heat and hot water for residents every day of the year. We maintain boilers, burners and low-water cutoffs and plan shutdowns so residents keep heat and hot water.

Repair services

Boiler Parts

Call our Ottawa office for replacement parts and critical spares. We have access to a wide range of OEM parts, including Siemens, and our staff match the component to your boiler, burner or controls. We can build a critical spares list with you so one failed part doesn’t stall the plant.

Boiler Rentals

We supply Thermocoil rental boilers from 150 to 500 HP, 250 psig MAWP, operating 70–225 psig, firing natural gas, propane or No. 2 oil. Larger units are available on request. Plants use them for planned outages, retubing work and emergencies.

Local considerations

TSSA rules and St. Lawrence Valley winters

Boilers and pressure vessels in Ontario fall under the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA), which administers the Technical Standards and Safety Act, 2000. O. Reg. 220/01 covers design registration, inspection and certificates of inspection; O. Reg. 219/01 covers the licensing of operating engineers.

Cornwall sits in the St. Lawrence Valley, where January design temperatures reach the mid -20s °C. Boilers carry heavy loads for months, and weak points such as worn refractory, sticking low-water cutoffs and poorly tuned burners tend to fail at peak demand. Before the heating season, we check condensate return, controls and combustion air along with the boiler.

Frequently asked questions

Boiler service questions from Cornwall

How quickly can you get a technician to Cornwall?

Call 613-244-0633. The line is answered 24/7, and we confirm an arrival time on the call. Cornwall is about 1 hour from our Ottawa branch.

We’re in Ingleside. Is that inside your service area?

Yes. Our Ottawa team covers Ingleside as part of the Cornwall area. Maintenance plans, parts support and emergency service work the same way there.

What does the TSSA require for our boilers in Cornwall?

Under O. Reg. 220/01, administered by the TSSA, boilers must be inspected and hold a certificate of inspection. Your insurance inspector may also be involved. We carry out the annual overhaul with the TSSA or insurance inspector present.

Can you service a hospital’s boilers without interrupting steam?

We plan the work around your redundancy. On sites with lead and standby boilers we take one unit down at a time while the other carries the load, and we schedule overhauls for lower-demand months.

Can we get a rental boiler to Cornwall during a retube?

Yes. We can bring a Thermocoil rental to your site. Two-boiler units measure 8' W x 9'6" H x 40' L; single units are 8' W x 8' H x 20' or 30' L. Tell us about site access, fuel and steam pressure, and we’ll plan the rental with you.
