In British Columbia, boilers and pressure vessels fall under Technical Safety BC, which administers the Safety Standards Act and the Power Engineers, Boiler, Pressure Vessel and Refrigeration Safety Regulation. That covers design registration, installation permits, certificates of inspection and the licensing of contractors and power engineers. We do repair and alteration work under our TSBC Boiler Class A licence.
Vancouver’s winters are mild and wet, with a January design temperature of about -7 °C, so the heating season is long but gentle. Boilers spend many hours at low fire, which makes turndown, short cycling and combustion tuning matter more than peak capacity. High humidity also corrodes stacks, mechanical rooms and condensate lines, so we inspect those along with the boiler.
