Boilers and pressure vessels in Ontario fall under the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA). TSSA administers the Boilers and Pressure Vessels regulation (O. Reg. 220/01), which covers design registration, inspection and certificates of inspection, and the Operating Engineers regulation (O. Reg. 219/01) for operating engineer licensing. We hold a TSSA local certificate of authorization for Fuels contractor work and prepare boilers for inspection.
Peterborough is inland, with colder winters than the lakeshore and January design temperatures around -25 °C. Heating plants run hard for months, and scaled tubes, worn refractory or a sticking feedwater valve tend to show up in the coldest weeks. The cause often sits in the condensate return, deaerator or controls, so we review those before peak season.
