Boiler Rentals in Aurora, the GTA & Southwestern Ontario

When a boiler fails or an outage is coming, our Aurora team sets up temporary steam or hot water from the Thermogenics containerized rental fleet and our partner inventory. We size the unit to your load, plan the tie-in and stay on call while it runs.

Temporary steam when your plant can’t wait

A tube leak, a cracked tube sheet or a burner fault that will take weeks to repair can stop a food line, a corrugator or the steam a hospital needs for sterilization and heating. A temporary boiler puts steam back on the header while our service team repairs or replaces the permanent unit. Production continues, and the repair can be done properly.

Our Aurora team serves plants in Toronto, Barrie, Oshawa, Peterborough and across Ontario. Each rental is matched to the job from the Thermogenics containerized fleet and our partner rental network, and each unit is inspected and tested before it is deployed.

When plants rent

When plants in Ontario rent a boiler

Emergency boiler failure

A failure with a long or costly repair is the most common reason to rent. A temporary boiler restores steam while our service team finds out why the permanent unit failed and fixes it.

Planned outages and shutdowns

Annual inspections, retubing, coil changes and refractory work all take the boiler offline. Book a rental ahead of the outage and production or building heat can carry on through the work.

Waiting on a new boiler

A new boiler can take about four months to arrive, and four to six when factories are busy. A rental bridges the gap from the day you approve the replacement to the start-up of the new unit.

Winter load and extra capacity

With a January design temperature of about −20 °C in Toronto, heating plants run hardest in winter. A rental adds capacity when one boiler is out or the load outgrows what the boiler room can deliver.

Corrugators and food lines

Corrugated plants and food and beverage processors depend on steady steam pressure. A rental sized to the process load keeps corrugators, cookers and kettles running while the main boiler is repaired.

New construction and boiler rooms

While a new plant, addition or boiler room is being built, a temporary unit can supply steam or heat until the permanent equipment is installed and commissioned.

The fleet

Containerized boilers matched to your load

Our own rental units are Thermocoil steam boilers from 150 to 500 HP. They are rated at 250 psig MAWP, operate from 70 to 225 psig, fire natural gas, propane or No. 2 oil, and reach up to 85% efficiency with economizers. Partner inventory widens the range to 30 BHP – 2,200+ BHP, including firetube and watertube steam, hot water, thermal fluid, low NOx units and complete boiler rooms.

How a rental works

How a rental job runs, from call to pickup

  1. 1

    Call and questions

We start with who you are, where the plant is and what the steam does. Then we ask about process, pressure, fuel, available voltage, water supply and any emissions limits the unit has to meet, so the boiler is sized to the job.

  2. 2

    Site walk

We usually get someone on site to see where the unit will sit and how far it is from your steam line. A 400-foot run can mean 2–3 weeks of piping, so this step sets the real schedule.

  3. 3

    Delivery and set

Units ship in standard sea can containers, so they travel as regular loads without escorts or oversize flags. At site, a crane or a lowboy trailer takes the container off the truck and onto its spot.

  4. 4

    Tie-in and start-up

We connect fuel, power, feedwater, steam and condensate, then commission the unit and check the controls, low-water cutoff and flame safeguard before it carries your load.

  5. 5

    Support and pickup

Maintenance and repairs are included while the unit is on rent. When your permanent boiler is back in service, we take the rental out and arrange the pickup with you.

Site preparation

What to have ready on site

A rental goes in faster when the site work is planned early. The temporary unit has to work with your feedwater, condensate return, controls and gas train, so we review those along with the boiler itself. Tell us how your plant is staffed and who signs off on boiler work, and we’ll plan the start-up around it.

  • A level spot for the container, close to the steam line
  • Crane access or room for a lowboy trailer to unload
  • Gas or oil supply sized for the rental’s firing rate
  • Available electrical supply and its voltage
  • Treated makeup water and a plan for condensate return
  • Your steam pressure, peak load and process type
  • Any emissions limits or permits the unit must meet
  • A site contact for access, safety orientation and sign-off

Frequently asked questions

Boiler rental questions

Our boiler just failed. How soon can a rental reach our plant?

We confirm the timing on the call. It depends mostly on which unit is available and how much site work is needed, such as piping to the steam line. Toronto is about 40 minutes from our Aurora branch and Peterborough about 1.5 hours. Call 905-727-1901 to plan it.

How is a rental boiler sized?

We size it from your steam or hot water load, operating pressure and process, using your nameplate data and peak demand. If the load falls outside our own Thermocoil range, we source a unit from partner inventory.

Can a rental run on propane or oil?

Yes. Our Thermocoil rentals fire natural gas, propane or No. 2 oil, so propane or oil can cover a site where gas capacity is short or a new gas tie-in would take too long. Tell us what fuel is available at the property and what emissions limits apply, and we’ll match the burner to both.

How big is the rental container?

Single units are 8' wide, 8' high and 20' or 30' long. Two-boiler units are 8' wide, 9'6" high and 40' long. Leave room around the spot for a crane or lowboy trailer to unload it.

Who maintains and attends the rental?

Our Aurora service team handles delivery, maintenance and 24/7 repairs, and all three come with the rental. Who attends the boiler day to day depends on the unit and TSSA’s operating engineer rules, and we review that with you before start-up.

How long can we keep a rental boiler?

As long as the job needs. Some rentals last 8–10 days while a part arrives or refractory is repaired. A full tube and tube-sheet job on a large firetube, or a wait for a new boiler, can run several months. We plan the rental around your repair or replacement schedule and adjust if it changes.
