Our team covers Dayton

Dayton is part of our Cincinnati team’s service area, for both emergency and scheduled service. On an emergency, the first job is to get the boiler back on line safely. After that, we track down the cause of the failure.

Scheduled work covers annual inspection prep, overhauls, cleaning, and combustion and safety checks. The Cincinnati office opened in 2010 as Thermogenics’ first U.S. location. It is home base for Joe McMullen, VP U.S. Operations, who has worked on boilers since 1986 and specializes in extreme-pressure and extreme-temperature applications.

Industries in Dayton

Dayton industries that run on steam and hot water

Much of Dayton’s boiler load sits in institutions. The area has a large Air Force research and logistics presence, major hospital systems, university campuses and a VA medical center. Aerospace, automotive parts, and food and packaging plants add process steam demand. Most of these sites run central plants that serve many buildings or lines at once.

Military & aerospace

Base and research facilities need dependable heating steam and hot water through long winters.

Angled View of rooftop HVAC system

Hospitals & health systems

Hospitals use steam for heating, humidification and sterilization, so outages hit patient care directly. We schedule maintenance and overhauls around those loads.

University Lecture Hall, College Dorm, School or Campus Education Building

Universities

Campus central plants carry heating loads across many buildings. We tune combustion, maintain controls and run system audits with combustion readings to find efficiency gains.

Aerospace, auto & food plants

Process steam drives curing, washing, cooking and cleaning. Our team services anything with a burner in it, so process burners get the same attention as the boilers.

Government & VA

Federal medical and office buildings need steady heat and reliable safety devices. We handle annual inspection prep, refractory repair, and low-water cutoff and flame safeguard checks.

Boiler Repair

Our technicians handle emergency repairs, retubing and coil changes, refractory repair, burner and control faults, and efficiency upgrades. We work on Thermogenics coil-tube boilers and high-pressure units, along with most other makes, including those with Autoflame burner management systems.

Repair services

Boiler Parts

We supply Grundfos pumps and repair kits. Grundfos lead times can run 8–10 weeks for a repair kit and 10–12 weeks for a new pump, so we work with Dayton plants to stock critical spares before the heating season.

Boiler Rentals

Thermocoil rentals run from 150 HP to 500 HP, with larger units on request, including the Ohio Special. Units fire natural gas, propane or No. 2 oil.

Local considerations

Ohio boiler inspection and Dayton winters

Ohio regulates boilers under Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4104 through the Department of Commerce, Division of Industrial Compliance. State-commissioned general inspectors or special inspectors working for insurers carry out the inspections. High-pressure boilers need annual internal and external inspections, and we prepare boilers for them.

Dayton winters bring heating design temperatures in the low single digits °F, so plants run near full load for weeks at a time. Weak refractory, scaled tubes and worn flame safeguards tend to fail under that load. Humid summers bring lighter loads and more cycling, which makes summer a good window for overhauls. We inspect condensate return and controls along with the boiler.

Frequently asked questions

Boiler service questions from Dayton

How quickly can you get a technician to Dayton?

Call 1-877-717-7724. Calls are answered around the clock, and we confirm an arrival time on the call. Dayton is about an hour from our Cincinnati branch.

Who inspects our Ohio boiler?

A state-commissioned general inspector or a special inspector from your insurer. Give us the inspection date and we will open the boiler beforehand, close it up after and correct any findings.

Will you come out to Springfield, Xenia or Fairborn?

Yes. Our Cincinnati team covers Springfield, Xenia and Fairborn, along with the rest of the Miami Valley, for emergency repairs, maintenance agreements and inspection prep.

Can you help a Dayton hospital cut boiler fuel costs?

Yes. We run system audits and energy assessments with combustion readings, then recommend tuning, controls or efficiency upgrades. On larger projects, Thermogenics has replaced aging boiler plants with Thermocoils. At one major Ohio hospital, 4 Thermocoils replaced 14 old boilers.

Is there a rental boiler that is operator-exempt in Ohio?

Yes. The Ohio Special is a 600 HP Thermocoil that is operator-exempt in Ohio. Its footprint is 40–60% smaller than conventional firetube boilers. Call early, because availability depends on the fleet.
