In Manitoba, boilers and pressure vessels fall under The Steam and Pressure Plants Act, administered by Inspection and Technical Services Manitoba (ITSM) within the Office of the Fire Commissioner. Equipment must be inspected before first use and periodically after that. We help plants arrive at inspection day with maintenance records in order and repairs completed.
Winnipeg is one of the coldest large cities in the world. January design temperatures sit around -33 °C and the heating season runs roughly eight months, so boilers carry heavy load for most of the year. That means long run hours, freeze risk on make-up water and condensate lines, and little room for a January outage. Many winter faults start outside the boiler itself, so we check feedwater, condensate and controls as well.
