When the boiler can’t wait for a repair

Most boiler rentals start with a failure. A tube leak, cracked refractory or burner fault turns into a repair that will take weeks, or a replacement that will take months, and the building still needs steam and hot water. In Las Vegas that load rarely stops. Resort laundries and kitchens run every day of the year, and hospitals and food plants can’t pause for a parts order. A rental carries the load while our team fixes the permanent equipment.

Pyro Combustion & Controls serves Las Vegas and Clark County with boiler service, repair, installation and engineering, and we are now part of Thermogenics. That gives our local team access to Thermogenics’ containerized rental steam boilers and partner rental inventory. We size the unit, deliver and set it, and our service technicians support it until your own boiler is back online.

When plants rent

Why Southern Nevada plants rent a boiler

Emergency breakdowns

When a repair will be long or costly, a temporary boiler keeps steam and hot water on while we find out why the original unit failed.

Planned outages and shutdowns

Inspections, re-tubing and refractory work can take as long as they need when the building is running on a rental. We set the temporary unit before the outage starts.

Replacements and long lead times

A new boiler can take four to six months to arrive when the factory is busy. A rental bridges the gap from removal of the old unit to start-up of the new one.

Extra capacity

A new production line, laundry expansion or building wing can come online before the boiler room is upgraded. A rental carries the added load until permanent equipment is in.

Low-NOx retrofits and upgrades

Low-NOx burner and linkageless control retrofits take a boiler out of service. A rental covers the load during the work, and low-NOx rental units are available when the air permit calls for one.

New construction and start-up

New buildings and plant expansions often need steam or hot water for testing and early occupancy. A temporary unit carries that load until the permanent boiler plant is commissioned.

The fleet

Thermogenics’ own containerized rentals run 150 HP to 500 HP, rated 250 psig MAWP and operating at 70–225 psig, on natural gas, propane or No. 2 oil. With partners, the range is 30 BHP to 2,200+ BHP, including firetube and watertube steam, hot water, thermal fluid, low NOx and complete boiler rooms.

How a rental works

How a rental job runs, call to pickup

  1. 1

    Call and intake

We ask about your site, the process the boiler serves, the pressure you need, fuel, available voltage, water supply and the state and Clark County emissions limits that apply. Those answers set the unit size and type.

  2. 2

    Site walk

We send someone to see where the unit will sit, how a truck and crane will reach it and how far it is from the plant steam line. A 400 ft run can add 2–3 weeks of piping work.

  3. 3

    Permit, delivery and set

Nevada MCS requires a permit before a boiler is installed or reinstalled; we confirm the steps early. Our units ship in standard containers, no oversize escorts, and a crane or lowboy sets them.

  4. 4

    Tie-in and start-up

Our Las Vegas team pipes the rental to your steam or hot water system, connects fuel, power, feedwater and condensate, and starts it up. Every unit is inspected and tested before it is deployed to your site.

  5. 5

    Support on rent and pickup

Our technicians maintain and repair the rental on site, with 24/7 support. When your boiler is back in service, we disconnect and remove the rental.

Site preparation

What to have ready on site

Containerized units are 8 ft wide. A two-boiler unit is 40 ft long and 9 ft 6 in high; single units are 20 ft or 30 ft long and 8 ft high. Plan for a level pad with crane access, and keep the run to the steam line as short as practical. During the site walk we also confirm feedwater supply and condensate return, since the rental depends on both.

  • Level, accessible pad close to the plant steam or hot water line
  • Clear path for a truck and a crane or lowboy trailer
  • Gas supply size and pressure, or space for propane or oil
  • Electrical service and voltage at the set location
  • Make-up water supply and water treatment details
  • Condensate return and blowdown drain points
  • Current air permit and Clark County emissions limits
  • Site contact who can approve access and work permits

Frequently asked questions

Boiler rental questions

How soon can a rental boiler be set in Las Vegas?

Timing depends on the unit you need and where it is sourced from, since a standard unit and a specialty boiler take different sourcing. Call 702-384-7976 with your process, pressure, fuel and site address. We check availability across the Thermogenics network and partner inventory and give you a realistic plan, including the permit and tie-in work on your end.

Should the rental match our failed boiler’s size?

Not necessarily. We size the rental from your actual load. Tell us the process, pressure or water temperature and daily run hours. For very large loads, we source units through our rental partners.

Can a rental run on propane or oil?

Yes. Our containerized rentals fire on natural gas, propane or No. 2 oil. Tell us what fuel is available at the set location and how much supply capacity you have. In Clark County emissions matter as much as fuel, so we confirm air quality requirements at intake, and low NOx rental units are available.

What do we need on site before the rental arrives?

A level pad with room for the container, crane or lowboy access, and the shortest practical run to your steam or hot water line. We also need fuel, power at the right voltage, make-up water, a condensate return point and a drain. Our site walk confirms each of these and flags anything that will add piping or electrical time before the unit ships.

Does Nevada require a permit for a temporary boiler?

Nevada MCS, the Mechanical Compliance Section of the Division of Industrial Relations, requires a permit before any boiler or pressure vessel is installed or reinstalled, and units must be inspected and certified to operate. We confirm the permit and inspection steps for your rental at the first call.

Who maintains the rental while it’s on our site?

Our Las Vegas technicians maintain and repair the rental for the full term, with 24/7 support. That term can be as short as 8–10 days while you wait for a part or a refractory repair, or several months for a full tube and tube-sheet job on a large firetube or a replacement waiting on a new boiler.
