Temporary boilers for Arizona plants

Most rental calls start with a failure. A tube sheet lets go, the refractory comes apart, or a part is weeks away, and the plant still needs steam to keep production going. Our team in Apache Junction puts temporary capacity in place for mining, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and healthcare operations while the permanent equipment is repaired or replaced.

High Desert Mechanical is part of Thermogenics, so we can draw on the Thermogenics containerized fleet and partner inventory to find a unit that fits your load. The same technicians who service, retube and inspect boilers across Arizona set and maintain the rental, and they can also repair the boiler it is covering for.

When plants rent

When Arizona plants rent a boiler

Emergency breakdowns

When a failure means a long or costly repair, a temporary boiler restores steam or hot water while we work on the permanent unit.

Planned outages and inspections

Arizona requires annual internal certificate inspections on power boilers, and retubing or refractory work takes a boiler offline too. A rental booked ahead keeps the process running.

Waiting on a new boiler

New-boiler lead times often run four to six months. A rental bridges the gap, so you have time to specify a replacement that fits the plant.

Extra or seasonal capacity

Phoenix and Tucson boilers mostly carry process, hot water and laundry loads, while Flagstaff winters add heating demand. A rental adds capacity for a production increase or a cold season without a permanent install.

Mining and process loads

Mines and process plants that use steam can keep running on a containerized unit while plant equipment is down, being rebuilt or being upgraded. We serve mining operations around Globe and across the state.

Commissioning and construction

New buildings and plant expansions often need steam or heat before the permanent boiler room is finished. A rental covers start-up, testing and early operation until the new system takes over.

The fleet

Rental boilers from the Thermogenics network

Available rentals run from 30 BHP to 2,200+ BHP, including steam firetube and watertube, low-volume steam, hot water, thermal fluid, low NOx units and complete boiler rooms. Thermogenics’ own containerized rentals run 150 HP to 500 HP, fire natural gas, propane or No. 2 oil, and ship in standard shipping containers.

How a rental works

How a rental job runs

  1. 1

    Call and intake questions

Call 480-292-6550 and we ask who you are, where the site is and what the unit has to do: your process, required pressure, fuel, available voltage, water supply and any county or state NOx limits. Those answers narrow the choice quickly.

  2. 2

    Site walk

We usually get someone on site quickly. We look at where the unit will sit, truck and crane access, and the distance to your steam line, since a 400 ft piping run can mean 2–3 weeks of work.

  3. 3

    Delivery and set

Containerized units move without escorts or oversized-load handling. A crane or a rented lowboy trailer sets the unit in place. Each unit is inspected and tested before deployment.

  4. 4

    Tie-in and start-up

Our crew connects steam or hot water, fuel, power, feedwater and condensate return. We then fire the boiler and check the controls, combustion, low-water cutoff and flame safeguard before it carries your load.

  5. 5

    Support on rent and pickup

Installation, maintenance and repairs come with the rental. When your permanent boiler is back in service, we shut the unit down, disconnect it, drain it, load it out and clear the site.

Site preparation

What to have ready on site

A rental goes in faster when the site is prepared. The unit needs a level spot close to the steam or hot water header, a clear path for a truck and crane, and utility connections it can tie into. Plan the piping run early, because the distance to the steam line often sets the schedule. We go through any open items on this list with you during the site walk.

  • A level, solid pad near the plant steam or hot water line
  • Truck and crane access, with overhead lines clear
  • Fuel supply: natural gas, propane or No. 2 oil
  • Electrical service at the voltage the unit needs
  • Treated water supply and a route back for condensate
  • Your required operating pressure and steam or hot water load
  • Any county air permit or NOx limits for the site
  • A contact who can approve the tie-in point and shutdown

Frequently asked questions

Boiler rental questions

How soon can a rental reach our Arizona site?

It depends on which unit fits your load and where it is in the network, so we confirm timing on the call. Call 480-292-6550 as soon as the boiler is out; the line is answered 24/7.

How do you size a rental to our load?

We size it to your actual load and operating pressure, which can differ from the nameplate of the boiler that failed. Thermogenics’ own containerized units have a standard design pressure of 250 psig MAWP and operate at 70–225 psig, and the wider network covers 30 BHP to 2,200+ BHP. We confirm sizing on the intake call and the site walk.

Can a rental run on our site’s fuel?

Our containerized rentals fire natural gas, propane or No. 2 oil. Tell us what fuel you have on site and how much supply is available, and we check your emissions limits. Low NOx units are part of the network range if your county or permit calls for one.

What should we prepare before the boiler shows up?

Have a level pad near the steam or hot water line, truck and crane access, fuel, electrical service at the right voltage and treated water. The piping run matters most, because the farther the unit sits from your steam line, the longer the tie-in takes.

Who services the rental while it’s here?

Our Apache Junction team. Rentals come with installation, maintenance and repairs. Our technicians start the unit, check combustion and controls, and come back when it needs service. Tell us how your plant is staffed on the first call, and we will plan the support around your operators and shifts.

How long can a rental stay on site?

The rental stays as long as the job needs it. Covering a part delay or a refractory repair can take as little as 8–10 days. A full tube and tube-sheet job on a large firetube can take several months, and a rental often covers the wait for a new boiler.
